Dr Poodipeddi Satyanaarayana was one of the first few registered Medical Practitioners of Brahmapur and lived in Mangalavarampeta, the extended street was named after him as 'Poodipeddi vari Street: He is a great doctor, philontrophist,and promoted many a great Institutions in Brahmapur. He was President for a long time for Andhra Bhashabhivardhani Samaja, Founder President of 'Tygaraja Bhakta Samiti'fromoting library, culturalal, music and dance activities. He was a 'Ghandhian'. He was a pillar of strength to all the community.

This temple is patronised by the Poodipeddi Family. Poodipeddi Family originally migrated from a village called Dhimili in Vizag Dist. They r called Dhimili Dravidas. The origin of the name is ,probaly, some where in a village near chittoor & Tirupati, family dessendents from a one of the priest given or sent along with the queen to Raja Raj Narendra in maarriage. These priests were 'Pura peddalu;( Village heads) and 'Gudi Peddalu' ( Temple Heads.)and when a it came to a woman ( widow), it changed to 'Pura peddhi', or 'Gudi Peddhi' which gradually became the surname of the desendents of the family as 'Poodi peddi' or 'Pudipeddi,.
